1st question . How many papers should I buy?

Well lets see, this is a tricky question; but my rule of thumb is one paper for each member of the family. This was before I found out about clipping services and paper retrivers, or finding someone who delivers.

Cliping services are great and even ebay to order certain coupons to stock up for. Say cereal has a coupon for 1.00 off and your store doubles to 1.00 and the ceral is 2.00 well then it would be free. So If I can buy 20 coupons off of ebay for the cereal my family eats and pay say 2.49 for 20 coupons, then I have 20 boxes of cereal for 2.49 and that will last us a while and cheaper then one box.

Many states have paper retrivers that you can get newspaper inserts from.

Do you get the paper delivered? Do you know someone who delivers? Well if you do ask them what they do with the extra inserts. They may just give them to you because other wise they get dumped.

Ask freinds and family to save there coupons for you.

Now days I always buy one paper unless good and then I buy 3. But 9 times out of 10 I get extras from freinds or the paper retriver. So usually I have 20 to 30 inserts on good weeks, heck some weeks I end up with well over 200 inserts and then share them.

Eat From The Pantry Challenge January

Here are my goals for the challenge.

Take stock in what is in my pantry and freezers.

Lower our grocery bill to 50.00 this will include milk, bread, and veggies and fruit

Make a monthly menu

Either donate the other 50.00 or use that 50.00 to get donation items for the food pantry.

I will still shop but only if the items are free or fit into the 50.00 budget

If we choose we can still go out to eat 2 times with our monthly out to eat fund.

So since this is a money saving blog, I have been doing alot of thinking and I think if I post my goals here it will help hold us accountable. We have decided to go full time with Dave Ramsey program and hopefully we will be debt free in a couple years.

Some goals for this year are to:

1. Open a Christmas club. Have 1200 saved for Christmas shopping next year.
2. Pay off my Mountaineer. We have 3 years left on the loan but it will be paid off in 2010 with Daves program.
3. Set up our emerganvy fund and have 3 month expenses in it. Will have to figure totals out.

Those are my top 3. At the end of each month I will post how we have done.

Many of you have been following my blog for a while now. Well here is a great frugal gift idea for you for the holidays. I started couponing last year and did this for everyone on my list but the kids last year and everyone loved it but one perosn and that person is a pain anyways.

Depending on how much you want to do, get a cheap laundry basket at the dollar store or a storage tote (which we did last year, as it has a lid and all I had to do was put a bow on it. ) Then go through your stockpile and fill the container up with items from your stockpile.

We used. shampoo, conditioner, hair stylers, brushes, razors, shave gel, soap, makeup, face wash, lotions, medicines, paper products, laundry and cleaning supplies. We were able to do some really neat things with it. You also can add food items to it if you wish and anything personal they may like. Everyone was thrilled with this as they got many month supply of items and then could use there money on what ever they may need or want and not have to buy the silly everyday items.

Last year was the first year of this and I have already had people asking me are you doing this again this year? My sil loves htis stuff. So since it was such a hit last year we will be doing it again this year but a bit different.

Also if you got in on the glade candle deals lately, make a small candle thing up for teachers, mail person, or anyone as a little thank you.
